The Economic Atlas
Short version: use the site normally, don't scrape or resell the data pipeline itself, Pro and credits work as described below, and we can change what's included in Pro over time. The rest of this page is the detail behind that, because a one-line policy isn't a real one.
What this is
The Economic Atlas publishes official economic statistics, refreshed automatically from national statistics offices, central banks and international bodies (see each page's own footer for exact sources). By using the site -- browsing, creating an account, subscribing to Pro, or buying credits -- you're agreeing to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Accounts
You need an account to download data or use Customise & export. You're responsible for keeping your login details to yourself and for anything that happens under your account. You must be old enough to enter into a binding contract in your own country to create one. One account per person -- please don't share logins to get around the credits system.
Free trial
New accounts get 14 days of Pro automatically, no card required. It ends on its own after 14 days and your account reverts to the free plan unless you've subscribed to Pro before then -- nothing is ever auto-charged at the end of a trial, since no payment details were taken to start one.
Pro subscription and credits
Pro is a recurring monthly subscription (currently £5.99/mo, billed via Stripe) giving unlimited data downloads and Customise & export. If you'd rather not subscribe, credits let you pay per use instead -- 50p per data download, £1 per Customise & export, purchased in top-ups of £2 or more. Credits don't expire and carry no cash value outside the site; they're not a currency, gift card, or refundable deposit, though we'll always sort out a genuine payment error if one occurs -- see Contact below.
What's included in Pro (and Premium) can change
The specific features bundled into Pro, or into any future Premium tier, are set at our discretion and may change over time -- features can be added, removed, or moved between tiers as the product develops. We'll try to make any material change to what an existing subscription includes reasonably clear, but a feature being available in Pro today isn't a permanent guarantee it stays there unchanged forever.
Billing and cancellation
Stripe handles all payment processing; we never see or store your card details ourselves. You can cancel Pro any time from your account's billing portal -- cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we don't provide refunds for partial months. Get in touch if something's genuinely gone wrong with a charge; we'll look at it properly rather than just pointing back at this paragraph.
Acceptable use
The site is for personal and professional reference use. Please don't: scrape, systematically crawl, or bulk-extract data from the site to build a competing product or redistribute it commercially (the underlying official statistics are themselves openly licensed by their original sources -- go to them directly for that); attempt to circumvent the account, Pro, or credits system; interfere with the site's operation or abuse its infrastructure; or use an account other than your own. We can suspend or close accounts that do this.
Data accuracy
Every figure traces back to a named official source, and we work to keep everything current and correctly labelled -- but official statistics get revised, sources occasionally have outages, and we sometimes fall behind or get something wrong. The site is provided "as is," without warranty that any figure is complete, current, or error-free, and nothing on it is financial, investment, or professional advice. Known gaps are disclosed honestly on the relevant page's own footer rather than hidden.
Ownership
The site's own design, software, and branding belong to The Economic Atlas. The underlying statistics themselves remain the property of their original publishers (ONS, FRED, Eurostat, and the others named on each page), used here under their own open licences -- we're republishing, not claiming to own the numbers.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, The Economic Atlas isn't liable for losses arising from your use of the site or reliance on the data it shows, including decisions made using it. Nothing here limits liability where the law doesn't allow limiting it.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, this page gets updated to match, the same way our Privacy page works -- meant to describe reality, not a fixed document nobody rereads. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the update.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
